Assisting out-of-school youth (18-21), who have a documented disability, with job placement and permanent employment.  They will learn to write a resume and cover letter, complete an application, and learn how to interview.  Basic computer skills training, OJIs and other support services are also available.

The Access Center is the only agency in San Diego whose mission is to address the needs of individuals with disabilities, regardless of the cause or type of disability. A vital function of the Access Center is advocating social change, which permits persons with disabilities to participate fully in society. The Independent Living Movement that was established across the country as a consequence of the movement, were founded on the precepts of self-direction, freedom of choice, full and equal access to society, and the right to live as an independent person.

This comprehensive, Internet-based resource is for the elderly and people with disabilities, as well as their caregivers and service providers. Children's Urgent Care Center provides care to those less severely ill or injured patients. This arrangement uses resources efficiently and frees the emergency care staff to treat the more severe cases that come through its doors, especially during peak evening and weekend hours. Visits typically last less than 90 minutes and prices are competitive with other area hospitals. Additionally, the Urgent Care Center has access to Children's 24-hour pharmacy, as well as the hospital's lab and X-ray capabilities. Interpreters, fluent in all major languages, are available 24 hours a day, and discharge instructions are pre-printed and written in English or Spanish.

The City Attorney serves  as the cheif legal advisor and misdemeanor prosecutor for the City. Dedicated to a philosophy of proactive, early intervention lawyering and committed to community outreach, the City Attorney's Office provides legal guidance and support for elected City officials, City departments, and boards and commissions; represents the City before judicial and administrative bodies in civil proceedings; and prosecutes misdemeanor crimes. In Mid-City , a neighborhood prosecutor coordinates the Mid-City Community Court and the Prostitution Impact Panel, in addition to working numerous special enforcement projects with the San Diego Police Department.

Teen Options provides comprehensive services to pregnant and parenting teens and young adults (12- 25) in a safe and supportive environment.  Through case management and educational groups, our core services focus on recovery, the birth of healthy, drug-free babies, child development, parenting and independent life skills.  The Proud Parenting Program is an eight week parent education course designed to further build positive parenting skills for both young men and women under the age of 25.  Family activities are offered on an ongoing basis to help individuals develop a healthy network of support.   The Options for Health Program is a 12 week course providing health and nutrition education, including healthy cooking, yoga, and dance classes for parents and their children ages 0 - 5.  Youth that participate in our services receive incentives such as diapers, gift cards, and baby formula.

The San Diego Workforce Partnership, Inc. (Workforce Partnership) has been in operation since 1974, when a joint powers agreement between the City and the County of San Diego created what is now a nonprofit public benefit corporation.

The Workforce Partnership funds job training programs to meet the region's demand for qualified workers. The programs benefit local employers, unemployed and recently laid-off adults, and at risk youth ages 14 to 21. In addition, the Workforce Partnership invests a lot of time and resources in studying and analyzing our local economy. Services are primarily home-based, with three separate components: Family Preservation, Family Support, and Post-Adoptive Services. Access to CAT, Medi-Cal, juvenile diversion and prevention throughout the Family Support Center as well. Services include counseling and case management for families in crisis, lasting for 3 to 6 months. Program is designed to ensure the safety of children and provide practical skills to resolve immediate problems. Case management for families to reduce stress through identification of community resources and support. Program also focuses on parenting education and parenting skill development.

Start Smart, a program of SAY, San Diego, is a free program for parents with children under 5, as well as parents-to-be. Classes provide enjoyable activities for parents and kids to do together, along with helpful information on child development and what parents can do to make sure children are ready to start school. Developmental assessment is available for children ages 18 months – 5 years; enrollment in Healthy Family for medical coverage is also available.

VAM is a five agency collaborative effort to reduce teen pregnancy and fatherlessness. VAM matches peer mentors with groups of males and females between the ages of 10 and 18 in Mid-City, City Heights, and North Park. The mentors work with the groups to develop a life vision through group meetings, activities, and community involvement that promotes positive life choices.

The City of San Diego offers three direct lending programs, available to small business owners in Redevelopment Project Areas (e.g., City Heights Project Area) and other eligible census tracts.  The funds offer financial assistance to businesses that lack funds to meet the equity requirements of banking financing.   The funds may be used to fill a "financing gap" in a project, and can assist with acquisition of new or rehabilitated buildings, fixed machinery and equipment, and working capital, including soft costs.

This program focuses on children with school attendance problems, grades K - 12 in five school districts.  The Probation Department provides a school probation officer at each of the sites to assist in monitoring a child's attendance through direct contact with the child and his/her family.  The goals are to increase the child's school attendance and enhance academic achievement.
