The decision to select projects is made by the Self Help FCU San Diego Advisory Board by consensus. The Advisory Board uses a consensus tool (example on page 2) called the decision matrix, to score proposals. Each Advisory Board Member rates each proposal on a scale of 0-5 based on the questions below. Any project that scores below 80 percent of the maximum potential points is not eligible. Any Advisory Board Member submitting a project for consideration or who stands to gain from a project must abstain from voting or participating in the deliberations. Funding for this project is provided by The California Endowment and the process is facilitated by Mid-City CAN, but no member of Mid-City CAN or The California Endowment participate on the Self Help FCU San Diego Advisory Board or in the selection of projects.
