Tareq is a San Diego native, with a B.A. in Political Science from UCSD and an M.A. in Public Administration from SDSU. He has previous advocacy experience in telecommunications and the transportation fields, along with budget development experience in municipal government. At Mid-City CAN, Tareq works closely with the organizers and community members in advancing various policy objectives. Tareq also works towards fostering close relationships between Mid-City CAN and various government offices, businesses, non-profit organizations, labor unions, and civic groups. Tareq was inspired to work at Mid-City CAN by the community developed campaigns of the organization. His vision for the community is the implementation of policies designed to improve transportation in City Heights for youth, juvenile justice reform through restorative justice practices, and addressing the food scarcity challenges.
