During these turbulent times, it’s more important than ever to gather with friends who share our values.
Please join us for appetizers, drinks, and engaging conversation on Thursday, March 19, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the New Americans Museum at Liberty Station. You’ll learn about Mid-City CAN's more than 35 years of community work and hear from author Dr. Veronica Terriquez, who highlights our youth organizing efforts in her recently published book, Learning to Lead: Youth Organizing in Immigrant Communities.
Mid-City CAN and youth leader Halima Musa are featured in Dr. Terriquez's book which highlights how MCC helped Halima develop an inclusive vision of social justice, concrete skills for collective action, and a lasting commitment to civic participation. Her leadership during the halal chicken campaign is showcased as a prime example of how youth-led initiatives empower young people to create real change.
What’s in store for the evening?
📖 Meet author Dr. Veronica Terriquez, author of Learning to Lead: Youth Organizing in Immigrant Communities.
