Youth Opportunity Pass

YOP

About Youth Opportunity Passes (Y.O.P.)

Our Improving Transportation in City Heights (ITCH) team, for more than a decade, demanded no-cost Youth Opportunity Passes (Y.O.P.) for every youth in San Diego. The Youth Opportunity Pass is a PRONTO transportation pass for youth who are 18 and under. Our team sees transportation essential for youth to get to school, work, sports, and other early-career opportunities. Y.O.P. has been a tremendous success in its first year with over 6 million youth rides!

Benefits of the Youth Opportunity Passes (Y.O.P.)

  • Youth ride free, unlimited transit and have more access to school, work, and early-career opportunities like internships and career development programs.
  • Youth learn how to use our region’s transportation system and are likely to become future riders.
  • Y.O.P. eliminates the financial burden for youth and their families.
  • We see less traffic and reduced GHG emission - Y.O.P. fights climate change!

How do youth ride transportation for FREE in San Diego County?

All you need is a Youth PRONTO card or a virtual Youth pass on the PRONTO App for unlimited rides. The PRONTO Youth Pass is valid on MTS and NCTD buses, trolley, SPRINTER, and COASTER.
