Hello relatives! 

I'm inviting you Thursday, April 23rd at 5:30PM to our next Youth Justice Momentum Team meeting at Mid-City CAN. 

The Youth Justice Momentum Team (YJMT) is a youth-centered intergenerational community organizing space. During our next meeting we will be working together and preparing for the next Juvenile Justice Ad-Hoc meeting at the County of San Diego later this month.

YJMT members will be allotted 2 minutes to provide public comment. 

We encourage you to join us in our efforts to efficiently ban and effectively phase out OC Pepper Spray in local youth detention facilities.

We believe these efforts should be youth-led.

We believe young people should be decision makers and leaders in these policies that drastically affect their lives, not just contributors to input.

We believe in credible messenger and lived-experienced led implementation. 

I strongly believe every voice matters as we work towards a world where youth are no longer criminalized for behaviors that are rooted in trauma and survival.  

We hope to see you April 16th. 

Mid-City CAN will be providing dinner and refreshments. If anyone needs childcare or any translation services, please let me know.

Lxs invito este jueves 23 de abril a las 5:30 p. m. a nuestra próxima reunión del Equipo de Justicia Juvenil (Youth Justice Momentum Team) en Mid-City CAN.

El Equipo de Justicia Juvenil (YJMT, por sus siglas en inglés) es un espacio de organización comunitaria intergeneracional centrado en la juventud. Durante nuestra próxima reunión, trabajaremos juntos y nos prepararemos para la próxima reunión *ad hoc* sobre Justicia Juvenil en el Condado de San Diego, que se celebrará a finales de este mes.

Se asignarán 2 minutos a los miembros del YJMT para realizar comentarios públicos.

Lxs animamos a unirse a nuestros esfuerzos para prohibir de manera eficiente y eliminar gradualmente de forma efectiva el uso de gas pimienta (OC) en los centros locales de detención juvenil.

Creemos que estos esfuerzos deben ser liderados por lxs jóvenes.

Creemos que lxs jóvenes deben ser quienes tomen las decisiones y actúen como líderes en estas políticas que afectan drásticamente sus vidas, y no limitarse únicamente a aportar sugerencias.

Creemos en una implementación liderada por mensajeros creíbles y por personas con experiencia vivida.

Creo firmemente que cada voz importa mientras trabajamos hacia un mundo en el que los jóvenes dejen de ser criminalizados por comportamientos que tienen sus raíces en el trauma y la supervivencia.

Esperamos verlxs el 16 de abril.
