Queer, Trans, and Intersex Pride Fair

4th Health & Pride Fair Unites Community in Celebration and Resistance

Mid-City CAN was proud to host our 4th Annual Health and Pride Resource Fair on Sunday, May 4, 2025 at Wilson Middle School in City Heights and our message rang loud and clear: "Hands Off Gender-Affirming Healthcare!" We stand united in protecting the health and dignity of all our community members! The fair brought together 20 amazing organizations including TransFamily Support Services, Family Health Centers of San Diego Hillcrest, and San Diego Public Library. Guests also enjoyed a food distribution hosted by Feeding San Diego. Antonio Page-Khan, representing the Legal Aid Society of San Diego, Inc., presented LASSD’s Gender-Affirming Healthcare Toolkit. Radiate Pride: Mid-City CAN's 3rd Annual Fair Celebrates and Supports LGBTQIA+ Youth

2024 Pride Event

On June 29, 2024 Mid-City CAN hosted its 3rd Annual Queer, Trans, and Intersex PGM (People of the Global Majority) - Health, Pride, and Resiliency Fair at Crawford High School. The event radiated love and healing, bringing together people from all walks of life to connect through meditation, conversation, storytelling, and dance!

"During times of discrimination and adversity, movements like Black Lives Matter, the Women's March, and March for Our Lives emerged, inspiring us profoundly. Our Pride fair's theme, Fighting for Our Futures, embodies this spirit. Together with our community partners, we support our LGBTQIA+ community, especially youth, in their pursuit of happiness and their goals. We empower them not only during Pride Month but throughout the year," said Mid-City CAN Civic Engagement Coordinator Shanti Huynh (they/them), organizer of the fair. Click here to read more.

2nd Queer, Trans, and Intersex Pride Fair took place in June 2023

Civic Engagement's 2nd Annual Queer, Trans, and Intersex Pride Fair was an amazing time with community members and organizations held on June 3rd! This year's theme is "Protect Queer Youth" and is a response to the hate and fear our community continues to experience.

“Together we will create hope, joy and community while learning, playing and making new connections,” said Shanti Huynh (they/them/their), Mid-City CAN’s Civic Engagement Coordinator and organizer of the fair.

Pride 2023

It was a pleasure to have so many wonderful allies at our fair! San Diego Pride, San Diego Black LGBTQ Coalition, Planned Parenthood, Imperial Beach Community Clinic, Lambda Archives, Trans Health & Wellness Center, Dylan Friedkin, and the YMCA's Teen Programs, Our Safe Place, Housing Support including LGBTQIA+ Youth were present. Disco Riot was also in attendance to promote Queer Mvmnt Fest, a queer-focused movement-arts festival, that will be presented in San Diego from June 12-18.

Drag Storytelling

Local youth teens entertained the crowd with a drag show and drag story time. There was also a Queeral (mural), speakers, art activities for all ages, an affirmation station, and community passport game. It was a great kickoff to Pride Month!
