Tell MTS Board- stop public transportation fare increases in San Diego

On Thursday, March 11th, MTS will be voting on whether to increase public transportation fares in San Diego. An increase on fares during such a difficult economic time for San Diego families is unacceptable. We need all hands on deck to let the MTS Board know that San Diegans do not want fare increases.

HOW CAN YOU MAKE YOUR VOICE HEARD?

1. WRITE IT OUT: Email MTS- it'll take less than 5 minutes!

  • Written Public Comments will be recorded in the public record and will be provided to MTS Board Members in advance of the meeting. Please email your public comments to the Clerk of the Board at: [email protected].
  • Copy & Paste this text into your email:

"I am writing in regards to Thursday's vote on increasing transportation fares in San Diego. I urge you to recommend scenario 3. The two other scenarios will increase fares and hurt the people who ride transit most. Low income, transit dependent families already face significant hardship and cannot be seen as a source of cash flow. Increasing fares during a pandemic is illogical and insensitive to the needs of the people that public transit is intended to serve. MTS Board Members, thank you for your attention and again, I urge you to support Scenario 3. Transit-dependent communities are counting on you to understand their needs and avoid raising fares."

REMEMBER: Nothing is more powerful than your lived experience. Tell MTS how this change will directly affect you & your transportation needs.

2. SPEAK UP: Join MCC at MTS' Board of Directors meeting on Thursday, March 11th at 9:00 and let them know that you do not support increasing fare rates.

When we work together, we are powerful! We look forward to seeing you at the MTS meeting. Questions? Email: [email protected]
